Relief Section

Departments

The ordained function of the Relief Section is to lend a helping hand to those who are either in temporary or in permanent distress. To achieve this objective the following activities are undertaken by this section.

Distribution of all types of Gratuitous Relief including Starvation G.R.
Normal G.R., special G.R., Fire G.R. and Cash G.R. to those affected by natural
calamities.
Economic Rehabilitation Grant to individuals of destitute families.
Ex-gratia payment to the families of the victims of natural calamities or accidents.
Distribution of Relief materials like clothings, blankets, tarpaulins etc.
Conducting relief and rescue operations at the time of natural calamites like
cyclone, flood, hailstorm etc.
To provide Houses Building Grant to the indigent persons whose houses are
damaged, partially or fully, due to natural calamites.
Co-ordination with different Departments, Panchayati Raj Bodies, field level offices
during occurrence of natural calamites and also keeping in touch with them
throughout the year for necessary remedial and preventive measures that need to
be adopted during the crisis period.
Preparation of Flood Action Plan.
Preparation of Mouza Accessibility map both for the District & each of the Block.
Interacting with UNICEF, ATI, NGO's & other Agencies in conducting workshop
and meeting on Community Based Disaster Programme (CBDP).
Preparation of Disaster Mitigation Plan.

	Community Based Disaster Preparedness


	Blockwise training on CBDP has already been organised during the period from last week July'2002 to August' 2002 in 17 Blocks


	Flood shelter other than CMRF


	Gram Panchayat level training on CBDP of each block at 40 G.Ps was held during the month of 2002

CASA	Constructed 6 flood shelter 5 at Ranaghat-II Block & 1 at Chapra Development Block
Fisheries	Constructed already 2 and other 2 going to be constructed
Relief Department	1 flood shelter will be constructed at Dhananjaypur Gram Panchayat under Nakashipara Development Block, plan and Estimate have been vetted by the District Engineer Zilla Parishad on 16.12.2002
